2012Topics2012 Christian Sports Intermediate Winter Champions (5-5)

The Intermediate championship matched the # 3 seeded Tropics (5-5) vs the # 4 seeded Stumondo's Squad (5-6). Having played twice during the regular season and both games going to overtime (both won by Tropics), you knew this was going to be a good game. It did not disspoint and was an offensive shootout. On the first play of the game, Tropics QB Mitch Elliott hit Ollie Sanders on a one yard sit route and Ollie took it 59 yards for a TD and a 6-0 lead. Stumondo's Squad answered with a drive of their own that culminated with a Touchdown to Tom Colver and a 7-6 lead. Tropics on their 2nd possession marched right down the field and scored again to take a 12-7 lead. Stumondo's squad again countered w/ an 18 yard TD pass to Melanie McWhorter for a 14-12 lead w/ just over a minute to play in the first half. No sweat for the tropics, as their high potent offense again scored on one play to take a 19-14 halftime lead. The 2nd half started w/ Stumondo's Squad scoring to take a 20-19 lead. It was back and forth in the 2nd half when Tropics took a 31-27 2nd half lead. With just under 2:00 to play the Tropics again had the ball at their own 20 and again only required one play to have the ball on the 1 yard line. The Tropics scored to secure a 39-33 Intermediate Championship. Congratulations to the Tropics for winning their first Christian Sports Championship.
